What is a body lift?

A body lift is a cosmetic surgical procedure that can enhance the shape and tone of your abdomen, buttocks, and thighs.

Is a body lift right for me?

The answer to this question depends on a number of personal factors. In most cases, patients who are candidates for body lifts have lost significant amounts of weight and, as a result, have excess skin multiple areas. The best way to determine if a body lift is right for you is to schedule a consultation with one of our Board-Certified Plastic Surgeons.

What should I expect during my consultation?

At CAPS, the satisfaction of our patients is our priority. That’s why we place a great deal of importance on your consultation. The goal of the consultation is to determine if a body lift is the right choice for you. During your consultation, your doctor will explain the full procedure to you and will ask you several questions including:

  • Why do you want a body lift?
  • What are your expectations for the procedure?
  • What is your desired outcome?
  • Do you have any drug allergies?
  • What previous medical treatments have you received?
  • Have you had any previous surgeries? If so, what were they?

In addition to asking these questions, your Plastic Surgeon will use your consultation to evaluate your general health status and any pre-existing health conditions or risk factors you may have, discuss your body lift options, take photographs for your medical record, recommend a course of treatment, discuss likely outcomes of a body lift and any risks or potential complications, and answer your questions.

What should I expect before my body lift?

Before your body lift, you may be asked to get lab testing or a medical evaluation, take certain medications or adjust your current medications, stop smoking, and avoid taking aspirin, anti-inflammatory drugs, and herbal supplements that may increase bleeding.

We will also give you special instructions about what to do the night before and morning of your surgery and regarding your post-operative care and follow-up appointments.

What will happen during my body lift?

First, you’ll be administered anesthesia. Your Plastic Surgeon will recommend the anesthesia option that is best for you. Then, you’ll go to sleep while your skilled Plastic Surgeon and well-trained staff perform the body lift. The exact procedure will vary depending on your unique needs and desired outcomes. Your doctor can walk you through every step of the procedure during your consultation.

What should I expect after my surgery?

Your doctor will give you instructions regarding your post-operative care. Following these instructions is absolutely vital for the success of your surgery. These instructions will include ensuring that your surgical incisions are not subjected to excessive force, abrasion, or motion during your recovery. Your doctor will also instruct you regarding the proper care of the surgical site, the use of medications to aid healing and reduce the potential for infection, and your overall follow-up care.

What will my results be like?

Your results will be visible almost immediately and will continue to refine over the next year or two. As you age, you may lose some of your tightness, but your body lift results will be long-lasting. By trusting the skilled, Board-Certified Plastic Surgeons at CAPS to perform your body lift, you can be confident that you are in good hands.
