Critical Questions to Ask Your Plastic Surgeon

As the popularity of cosmetic and beauty procedures rise, so do the “specialists” in the field. Anyone can claim that expertise in any given field of medicine. But do they truly have your best interests in mind?

Having a team of doctors and aestheticians that you can trust is the first core step in your personal beauty plan. Working with that group to create your personal plan is a very personal experience, and one that you don’t want to trust to just anyone who opens up shop. Before you decide on a team to perform your procedure or beauty regimen, be sure you get all of the critical questions answered. Here are three questions you need to ask your potential plastic surgeon:

  • Are your doctors board certified by a recognized board?
Any doctor can claim that they hold board certifications – but not all of those boards either exist, or hold credibility in the marketplace. Your plastic surgeon needs to be certified by a board that is recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties. The American Board of Plastic Surgery, an accredited and recognized board, certifies all four of CAPS’ doctors. If your plastic surgeon doesn’t hold this certification, you may want to look elsewhere.
  • What fields do you specialize in? Do you have before and after photos?
Every doctor’s background and specialty is different. You wouldn’t trust bodywork of your car to someone who specializes in rebuilding transmissions. So why would you trust a plastic surgeon without knowing their specialty, or seeing before and after photos of their work? All four of our plastic surgeons have been educated here in Ohio, and specialize in many different areas, including breast augmentation, liposuction, rhinoplasty, and other face procedures. Before and after photos are available on our website!
  • Am I a good candidate for my procedure?
This is a very valid question that anyone considering plastic surgery needs to ask. When you sit down for your consultation with our doctors, your plastic surgeon should evaluate your situation, go over the details of your procedures, and explore any alternatives that might be available to you. By going through this process, you can ensure that you’re getting the highest quality of care.
