Facial Resurfacing

Years of exposure to the sun's rays and other environmental damage can take its toll on the skin - sometimes even more than the effects of aging itself. Today there are several effective skin treatments to choose from to help restore your youthful glow.

Chemical Peels

Facial Resurfacing in ColumbusSeveral types of chemicals can be used to remove the superficial layers of the skin and even help remodel the deeper layers of skin. This helps improve the skin's texture and remove finer wrinkles, sometimes having a dramatic effect on facial appearance. TCA, AHA (alpha hydroxy acids), phenol or other agents can all be used depending on each individual's needs. Most facial peels can be performed without general anesthesia, but sometimes light sedation is used. Speaking with your board certified plastic surgeon can help refine your goals and determine which type of chemical peel is right for you. Other topics you may want to discuss are tissue fillers (Restylane® and others), facelift surgery, or BOTOX® Cosmetic. Dermabrasion

Dermabrasion uses a specialized tool to physically remove the outermost layers of the skin to improve skin contour. Dermabrasion is most often used to improve the look of facial scars caused by accidents or previous surgery, or to smooth out fine facial wrinkles. While this procedure is usually performed in an office setting with local anesthetic, it can be performed in an operating room in combination with other procedures. Like all facial resurfacing procedures, recovery time varies depending on how deeply the skin needs to be altered. Nonetheless, most people heal from facial resurfacing in less than two weeks. Sometimes skin redness persists longer, but this can usually be covered easily with makeup. Click to schedule a skin evaluation and consultation today.
