Would Outer Space Keep Me From Aging?

In an April issue of New Scientist Magazine, a writer from London asked about aging in a zero gravity environment. “I understand that lines and sagging skin we acquire as we age are due to the sun and gravity,” the woman wrote. “If I lived in zero…gravity away from the sun, would I stay looking young?”

The responding editor gave a very scientific answer about the causes of aging. They explained that regular exposure to the sun could, over time, cause fine wrinkles, age spots, spider veins, and more premature signs of aging. And while gravity tends to pull everything down, our bodies also tend to sag as they lose collagen and tone. The article goes on to say that, even in a zero gravity environment, we would continue to age – but in a different way.

While the vacuums of a zero gravity environment can’t stop the natural effects of aging, working with a board-certified plastic surgeon can reduce those signs here on Earth. There are many procedures that can help your face maintain a more youthful appearance. A Laser Peel can be successful at reducing or eliminating problematic lines that occur around the mouth and eyes. Injectables, such as Botox and Juvederm, can also reduce the appearance of wrinkles that appear as a result of age and sun exposure.

If heavier sun damage and aging effects are concerning to you, consider talking to a plastic surgeon about a face lift or mini face lift. A face lift removes excess fat and skin and tightens the muscles underneath. A surgical procedure can often help you renew your youthful looks, and obtain long-lasting results.
