Removing Summer Sun Damage with Peels

Summer’s come and gone, and so have all the summers before. But that sun damage doesn’t leave the same way the warmth of the sun’s rays does each September. Your skin hangs on to all of those lost summers. Just like you, it doesn’t want to let go. Sadly, all of that sun can be bad for your skin. Pamper yourself with a cleansing peel this fall.

Microdermabrasion is one of the easiest and quickest ways to remove light skin damage and wrinkles. A jet of natural mineral crystals or a diamond head wand is used to brush away dull surface skin cells. This improves the tone of your skin, reduces the appearance of wrinkles, and brightens your complexion. Because microdermabrasion only affects your surface skin cells, patients experience a rapid recovery from this light process.

If you’re in need of some more powerful skin treatments, try one of our chemical peels. These come in varying strengths, from similar to citrus juice, to the more powerful trichloroacetic peels. Don’t worry, your skin consultation with a trained aesthetician (all of whom are overseen by four board-certified plastic surgeons) will help determine which strength and combination of treatments is best for your skin. We help you find the right path all along the way. Chemical peels help relieve sun damage and wrinkles, but also control acne and lighten acne scarring. For the best results, ongoing treatment is recommended. Our MedSpa has products like Obagi Blue to help with this and maintain your recommended peel routine at home.

Our laser center also offers laser peel using the Contour TRL. This laser is strong and similarly able to address solar spots and skin tone, but it can also reduce deep wrinkles, scars, and actinic keratoses. A laser can be much more targeted than a chemical peel and is, in fact, the best way to peel around sensitive areas like the mouth and eyes.
