What is MicroLaserPeel? A MicroLaserPeel is a quick and effective treatment that uses a special laser to address conditions on the top layer of your skin. The treatment removes a thin layer of damaged skin to improve texture and provide a more youthful appearance. It provides superior results because it can be administered with great precision of depth. The procedure is performed in our office and can be custom tailored to your specific skin conditions and desired outcome. Most skin areas can be treated. Popular treatment areas are the face and neck, though some people also treat the chest and hands. The following conditions can be treated with MicroLaserPeel:

How it works The MicroLaserPeel’s laser beam is scanned over a treatment area to precisely ablate (vaporize) a very thin layer of skin, removing old, damaged tissue. Removing the top layer eliminates some of the damaged cells that can give skin a tired, aged look such as superficial blemishes and pigment irregularities. As the skin heals, fresh cells grow and resurface the treated area. The result is healthier-looking skin, often with reduced wrinkles and improved color evenness. Patients often say that it looks like their skin went from looking tired to vibrant. During treatment Your skin will be cleaned in the treatment area and your eyes will be protected with safety shields. The physician will position the laser handpiece above the skin and will hold it in place as the computer-guided scanner moves the laser beam around the treatment area. Depending on the size of the area being treated, the procedure usually lasts 15 to 30 minutes. One of the primary advantages of MicroLaserPeel is that it causes little pain because it does not penetrate very deep into the skin. At its most shallow settings, most people can tolerate treatment with no anesthetic at all. At deeper settings, a topical numbing cream is typically used. Excellent results can be obtained in just one treatment, however the number of treatments needed may vary from patient to patient. Your physician can personalize a plan based on your specific needs and may chose to combine MicroLaserPeel with other aesthetic procedures to further personalize your treatment. Immediately after the treatment you will notice that the skin has a “frosty” appearance. This is the dehydrated skin that will peel away within next few days following the treatment. You may experience some skin redness and a sensation resembling a sunburn, as well as mild swelling. You may be given skin care products and instructions on how to use them. Your skin will be sensitive to ultra-violet light after the procedure, so you must avoid direct sun exposure until fully healed. It is recommended that you always use some level of solar protection to avoid sun damage and premature aging of your skin. Depending on the depth of treatment, most patients feel comfortable enough to return to work within 3 to 4 days – an attribute that has given rise to the nickname “the weekend peel.” Because only the outer layer of skin is treated, most patients notice an obvious improvement in tone, texture and color evenness once the skin heals in approximately 3-4 days. What is a mini tummy tuck procedure? The Mini Adominoplasty which is also known as a Mini Tummy Tuck is a procedure that smooths a portion of the abdomen below the belly button. Both a full Tummy Tuck and a Mini Tummy Tuck can be used to tighten the stomach muscles if they have excess laxity. A full Tummy Tuck and a Mini Tummy Tuck both tighten up the abdominal skin but the Mini Tummy Tuck has a much smaller incision. Why consider a mini tummy tuck? That evening patients are commonly required to spend the night in a post-operative care facility. This ensures that the patient is comfortable and properly attended to. Typically fly-in patients must plan on spending in 7 to 10 days in Columbus following plastic surgery. During the healing process many of our fly-in patients choose to stay at either an aftercare facility, such as Cosmetic Surgery Recovery Suites, or one of our many local hotels. Your post-op visits will be held close together in conjunction with your length-of-stay. After returning home, if you feel any need for medical assistance, we are available to refer you to a local physician for check-ups. Body Procedures:

Arm Lift

Body Lift

What is ProFractional Therapy? ProFractional Therapy is a quick and comfortable laser procedure with little downtime, used for improving the overall appearance of your skin. The procedure can be customized to your specific skin conditions and desired outcome. Most areas of the body can be treated. Popular treatment areas are the face and neck, though many people also treat the chest and hands. How it works ProFractional Therapy is “fractionated” laser resurfacing, meaning that only a portion of the skin is treated in a session. The treatment uses a laser beam that ablates thousands of pinpoint channels in your skin. Because only a fraction of your skin is directly treated with the laser, the surrounding untreated tissue promotes rapid healing. The skin’s wound healing response creates new collagen which adds firmness and resilience to the skin. During treatment Before the treatment, your skin will be cleaned and your eyes will be protected with safety shields. A laser hand piece will be positioned gently on the skin. When the energy laser is applied, you will hear a rapid succession of snapping sounds. The hand piece will be moved around to adjacent locations until the entire treatment area has been covered. The procedure normally takes 15 to 30 minutes, depending on the size of the treatment area. ProFractional Therapy is widely regarded as a comfortable treatment, usually tolerated with the use of a topical numbing cream or local anesthetic, depending on the depth of the treatment. Excellent results can be obtained in just one treatment, though the number of treatments needed may vary from patient to patient. We can personalize a plan based on your specific needs and we may choose to combine ProFractional Therapy with other aesthetic procedures to further personalize your treatment. Immediately following the procedure you may experience mild redness and a sensation resembling a sunburn. Your after-treatment care may include analgesics and application of an ointment to keep the skin moist. Your skin will be sensitive to ultra-violet light after the treatment, so you must avoid direct sun exposure until fully healed. It is recommended that you always use some level of solar protection to avoid sun damage. Complete healing typically occurs within a few days and most patients usually feel comfortable enough to get back to work and apply makeup a day or two after treatment. There will be some swelling that will subside within several days following the treatment. As your skin heals in the days following your treatment, you may notice a general tightening effect. An Overview of Good Skin Care

Based on reviewing the plastic surgery literature, several products on the market can be identified that will help your skin biologically. Some of these are prescription strength and some can be purchased over the counter. A good skin care program includes a skin evaluation and products tailored to your specific needs. You should plan to be on a program for the rest of your life since the aging process continues, although the type of product needed may change over time. The basis for a good skin care program includes four products – an exfoliant, a bleaching cream, an antioxidant, and a retinoid.

• Exfoliant: The exfoliant may be alpha-hydroxy acid, glycolic acid, or salicylic acid. This class of product helps remove the dead skin cells on the top of the skin. This leads to a smoother skin and more even makeup application. This is used in the morning and is non-prescription.
• Bleaching Cream: The bleaching cream is prescription strength hydroquinone. This is used twice a day to fade pigmented areas of the skin due to sun damage or pregnancy. It evens out the skin tone to provide a clearer complexion.
• Antioxidant: An antioxidant like topical Vitamin C is non-prescription. It repairs damage from the environment, is a skin brightener, is an exfoliant, and helps build up collagen in the skin. This is used once a day in the morning. Vitamin C also calms the irritation some people experience when starting Retin-A.
• Retinoids: Retinols like Retin-A and Renova are prescription products used at bedtime. They act three ways. As our skin ages it gets thinner. The YAG Laser

What is The YAG Laser? The YAG Laser allows the physician to precisely treat visible vessels, broken capillaries, spider veins, vascular lesions and discoloration of your skin by using laser energy. Your treatment will be tailored to match your skin condition and desired result.  All skin areas can be treated with The YAG Laser. Popular areas are the face, neck, chest and legs. How it works Broken capillaries and other visible vascular structures will be gently eliminated from the upper layers of your skin surface. Unwanted vessels will be preferentially heated by the laser energy and become less noticeable. The YAG Laser will also restore your skin tone and color. During treatment Your eyes will be protected with safety shields or glasses.  Laser energy will be delivered precisely to the area of your skin being treated. You may briefly feel a warm or hot sensation as the laser pulses are absorbed by the unwanted vessels. Your procedure may take a few minutes to half an hour depending on the size of the area to be treated. There should be little to no discomfort, however it varies from patient to patient and depends on the treatment. There is no need for anesthesia and the physician will discuss your options to properly manage any discomfort from the treatment. There should be no prolonged post treatment discomfort. After treatment Your skin will be pink temporarily but it will resolve over time. Any vessels denatured by the laser will be reabsorbed by your body over a period of time in a natural cleansing process. Most small capillaries will become invisible almost immediately, since they will no longer contain blood. It is important to follow the physician’s post-treatment instructions. You may be given some skin care products and instructions on how to use them. Your skin will be sensitive to ultraviolet light, and you must avoid direct sun exposure. You need to fully cover your skin or use a good sunscreen whenever you go outdoors. Your healing time will depend upon your actual treatment. In most cases, there is virtually no downtime and you may resume daily activity immediately. You may experience some redness after the procedure. As a proud native of the Columbus area, Dr. Treece always knew that he wanted to attend The Ohio State University. After completing an honors undergraduate program, he continued on to The Ohio State University College of Medicine. Dr. Treece left Ohio in 1982 for a five-year residency program at The University of Texas in Houston, and during that time had the honor of being named Chief Surgical Resident. He has played an integral role in providing care to children in third world countries who were in need of facial cleft lip and palate repair.
