A New Age for botox

In the past, Botox was used almost exclusively by women aged forty and up. Today, however, the face of the average Botox patient is changing. The average age of a Botox patient is growing younger and even men are increasingly receiving the treatment too. In fact, many millennials in their 20s have opted to receive the injections. From 2010 to 2018, the number of Botox procedures performed on 20 to 29-year-olds increased 28%. Below, we’ll explain why this trend makes a lot more sense than you might think.

1. Prevention Trumps Treatment

When older individuals get Botox, the goal is to temporarily reverse the signs of aging. It works by preventing the movement of the muscles that cause the appearance of crow’s feet and fine lines. For younger patients, however, Botox can actually work to prevent signs of aging. It prevents the muscle movements that lead, over time, to the formation of those pesky lines around the eyes and on the forehead. In the end, occasional Botox injections can go a long way toward preventing the need for more invasive age-reversing procedures in the future.

2. It’s Not Just for Wrinkles

Although Botox is primarily associated with the treatment of wrinkles, it can do a lot more than that. For example, it can be used to treat acne, to soften jawlines or chins, to lift lips, to decrease migraines, and more. With this in mind, Millennials may be opting for Botox treatments for a variety of reasons.

3. It Increases Confidence

For individuals who suffer from insecurity over their appearances, Botox can help increase their confidence. Botox can be used to address a range of cosmetic concerns without the downtime of more invasive procedures. Increased self-confidence can go a long way toward helping individuals to live their best lives. There is certainly no age requirement for looking, feeling, and living better.
