A breast lift is a cosmetic surgical procedure that can remedy the effects of aging on breasts and produce a more youthful, uplifted breast shape. Breast lifts can help to reverse the effects of pregnancy, breastfeeding, weight fluctuations, aging, gravity, and heredity on breasts by returning them to a more youthful shape.
The best way to determine the answer to this question is to meet with a trusted plastic surgeon to discuss your treatment options. The plastic surgeons at CAPS will take the time to get to know your unique medical history and aesthetic goals before recommending a procedure. If you’re ready to see if a breast lift is right for you, schedule a consultation today.
The purpose of your consultation is to help you to determine if a breast lift is right for you. During your consultation, your doctor will explain the full procedure to you and will ask you several questions, including:
Why do you want a breast lift? Would breast augmentation be a better choice?
What are your expectations for the procedure?
What is your desired outcome?
Do you have any drug allergies?
What previous medical treatments have you received?
Have you had any previous surgeries? If so, what were they?
Do you have a family history of breast cancer?
What have been the results of any mammograms or previous biopsies you have had?
In addition to asking these questions, your plastic surgeon will use your consultation to evaluate your general health status and any preexisting health conditions or risk factors you may have, discuss your breast lift options, examine and measure your breasts, take photographs for your medical record, recommend a course of treatment, discuss likely outcomes of a breast lift and any risks or potential complications, and answer your questions.
Before your breast lift, you may be asked to get lab testing or a medical evaluation, get a baseline mammogram, take certain medications or adjust your current medications, stop smoking, and avoid taking aspirin, anti-inflammatory drugs, and herbal supplements that may increase bleeding.
We will also give you special instructions about what to do the night before and morning of your surgery and regarding your post-operative care and follow-up appointments.
First, you’ll be administered anesthesia. Your plastic surgeon will recommend the anesthesia option that is best for you. Then, you’ll go to sleep while your skilled plastic surgeon and well-trained staff perform the breast lift. The exact procedure will vary depending on your unique needs and desired outcomes. Your doctor can walk you through every step of the procedure during your consultation.
Your doctor will give you instructions regarding your post-operative care. Following these instructions is absolutely vital to the success of your surgery. These instructions will include ensuring that your surgical incisions are not subjected to excessive force, abrasion, or motion during your recovery. Your doctor will also instruct you regarding the proper care of the surgical site, the use of medications to aid healing and reduce the potential for infection, and your overall follow-up care. You may also be asked to get a mammogram to aid in detecting future changes in your breast tissue.
The more youthful and uplifted position of your breasts will be evident immediately after your breast lift. By maintaining a healthy lifestyle and avoiding significant weight gain, you will be able to enjoy the results of your rejuvenated figure for years to come. When you trust your breast lift to the skilled hands of our plastic surgeons, you can be confident that it will be performed with the utmost precision.
